Forte Support
An Apple Music player for audiophiles
Something not working, or not behaving the way you expected? Email stratum.cutout-6q@icloud.com and you'll get a reply from the person who wrote the app.
What Forte needs
Forte plays your Apple Music library, so it needs an active Apple Music subscription and permission to read your library. You'll be asked for that permission the first time you open the app. If the library looks empty, check that Forte has access under Settings › Forte › Media & Apple Music.
Your own audio files
Forte also plays files you add yourself, in FLAC, ALAC, WAV, MP3, and AAC. Add them through the Files app, under On My iPhone › Forte, and they'll appear alongside the rest of your library after the next scan.
Reporting a problem
The more specific the report, the faster it gets fixed. Useful things to include:
- What you did, and what happened instead of what you expected.
- Whether the track was streaming from Apple Music or one of your own files.
- Your iOS version and iPhone model.
- The version of Forte, shown at the bottom of Settings.
Requesting a feature
Requests are welcome. Worth knowing what Forte is deliberately not: it has no recommendation engine, no algorithmic suggestions, and no social feed. It's built for people who already know what they want to hear. Anything that helps you get to your own music faster, or tells you more about what you're hearing, is fair game.
Privacy
Forte has no account, no analytics, and no tracking. The full privacy policy explains what stays on your device and the two public services the app can optionally ask for credits and biographies.
